I went to school today , and all my non computer-literate friends were telling me of a new virus that was on the news , set to come out today. Now I knew this would be total BS when I first heard this as I wearily stepped into my classroom at 8 AM , and I still stand correct.

Numerous reports have been released , of minimal activity of this so called "virus" , known as the "Conflicker worm." It was said to target any computer running Windows OS (including your Macs you egotistical jerks who think your OMFG so awesome $3000 overpriced trash is invulnerable to these things). <-- Sorry about that :( . Microsoft is offering a 250 G , thats right , $250000 , to the person who finds information leading to the arrest of this virus creator.

Now in my opinion , this is, for lack of a better term , total BULLSHIT. Nothing has even happened so far to support that it exists, and if this does happen , I think I might be safe as im running a Beta OS :D.

Call of Duty 6 Confirmed for November

For those of you who havent seen the new trailer , check it out here : http://modernwarfare2.infinityward.com/#/?zoom=1&x=137.75&y=96&time=24.09

In the trailer, which oddly shows no video , but instead shows some green audio waves that form pictures if looked at closely , follow around a few Russian terrorists in a (possibly) American airport , who then proceed to go in an elevator and unzip their bags. Problem is , their bags are full of automatic rifles , and they proceed to open fire on the helpless tourists. Then the green waves form the word : Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2. Now for mny , this isnt news , most people already knew for sure that a new CoD game would be out by November 11th , which is right on the money except that it comes out on the 10th (yay :D).

Weird computer Symptoms?

Now if you read my previous post about that awesome XP I put on my laptop , you remember that everything was A-ok. Now , 2 days ago , some serious things went down.

In the middle of writing a review of my new mouse that I bought , my laptop just turns off in seconds and restarts. Now I was pissed because I didn't save a draft , but I didn't think too much of the random restart. But guess what? It kept restarting. I would be on firefox or another app for a a minute or 2 , and it restarted again. Now I have seriously no idea whats going , so I attempt to backup my files , and reformat my computer. There wasn't much to backup as I already backed up all my old Vista files on my other laptop , so I went ahead and re-installed xp. But the same thing happened again , and I went to sleep thinking that it was possibly a overheating problem.

So I woke up , packed up my laptop , and went to school. Now the laptop worked fine , and I was even able to watch Black Hawk Down , play some CoD 5 , and write down all my notes. I was happy that the laptop was working. Once I got home , I turned my computer back on , went on facebook , and in the middle of writing a lengthy wallpost, well yeah , it restarted again.

Downgrading from Vista to XP , worth the 12 hours of time

My new DesktopWhat follows is one mans expedition to downgrade from the hell known as Vista to get windows XP , and this man will never back down until he gets it to work.

I purchased a new hp dv6775us laptop in late september of 08 , and I really loved it. Vista ran fine , and it could handle anything I threw at it (even , to some extent , Crysis). But what happens to my $600 laptop after I install Linux? Vista gets corrupted. About every 10 seconds an error message would pop up on my vista , and my taskbar started looking funny. It was bearable until 2 days ago , where I couldnt even start up Vista. Good thing I had Linux , so I got all my documents and 200GB worth of music , movies , and games , all on to my backup computers. Now what do I do? I had no Vista recovery disc , so I got a "version" of XP that had all the updates and some little bells and whistles.

After 8 hours of downloading .iso images of windows discs , I finally booted up the installer. Then came up another error screen , this time saying that "somehow" my hard drive wasnt plugged in. Now I was like "WTF?." I mean seriously , after like 8 hours of getting all this crap together , your telling me I dont have a hard drive? Im not running a desktop here , Microsoft.I dun has hard disk?

Call of Duty 4 : Reskinned

Now its rare that I criticize a Call of Duty game , but its going to happen sooner or later.

The game isn't horrible , in fact , its a great game. Its Call of Duty , and its much better than Treyarch's (creators of CoD : UO , CoD 2 : Big Red One , and CoD 3) dissapointing Call of Duty 3. In fact , purely at a view of the developers achievements , this game deserves a 6/5 , as I now have faith in Treyarch , but this was only due to the usage of Infinity Ward's awesome CoD 4 engine.

As soon as you play the first level , you realize something new. The gore and torture factor has gone up quite a bit. In the first scene , you helplessly watch as a fellow Marine Raider gets beaten by Japanese soldiers. Now this seems standard fair , until the officer puts a ciggarete in the Marine's eye , and another soldier subsequently goes to slit the throat of the man in pain. Later on in the game , you'll notice that chucking a grenade will blow off enemy limbs , and they'll cry in pain as you and your teammates put them out of their misery. This gore factor adds to the Call of Duty experience , and I always wondered why this wasn't included in the others. Melee Combat

Xbox Live should be free

If you own an xbox 360 , you know that its kind of annoying to pay for xbox live , which is necessary to play online. But other options like PSN (PS3) are totally free. What gives? You might say the Xbox Live has a ton more features , and it does since its been in the works for years , but seriously , 5 bucks a month? Thats 60 bucks a year , which is like basically buying a whole new game. I only buy very few games with the money I have , and this extra cost doesnt help one bit. A more modest price drop should be in order. A new xbox 360 goes for 200 dollars , which is the same as the 400 dollar launch bundle. If your going to cut the price of the xbox 360 in half , why not cut the Live price in half too? Its not like Microsoft needs all that money. Is change going to happen? No. Not in the near-future , but we can hope.

Yeah , it has good graphics , but does it excel as a game?

Sort of. Its really just a mediocre FPS. You have a suit that gives you abilities like a cloak , super-speed , super-strength , and hardened armor. Apart from that , youre really just driving around killing all the Koreans you can find. No thank you.

The Gameplay is realistic though. The AI isnt spectacular but it does the job , and environment interaction is top notch. You can pick up a guy and throw him through a wall (see picture below) and watch the wall crumble as his body crumples like a sack of potatoes.

Dumbest "War" "Movie" ever

So I got dissapointed. There was nothing to rent so I picked this up. Wow was this a waste. The trailer showed action , which was the 2 minutes of action there really was.

Im not even going to waste my time writing a review on this. It would be fine as a drama , but its pisses me off when its classified as a war movie. Hell , this is worse than "Home of the Brave," which I give props to because 50 Cent is a marine in that movie.

Dont even bother with this.

Epic , Intense , Awesome

I love war movies. Gladiator and the Patriot were my first , and soon after watching Black Hawk Down I got my hands on this baby.

This movie starts off epic. A full-scale invasion of Normandy is portrayed perfectly. Everything from the ambient noises , to the MG42s chewing up boatfuls of Allied soldiers , is perfect. The gore is top-notch , not like a zombie flick , but realistic and believeable. But this movie isnt all blood , guts , and lead. It has quite an emotinal part to it too. The story follows that of Cpt. Miller and his squad. Miller, played by Tom Hanks , is just an ordinary school teacher drafted into the army , and the movie follows his squads mission to save Pvt. Ryan , one of the four Ryan brothers , the rest of whom who were K.I.A, and bring him back home.

Nothing short of amazing

Now im not much of a racing guy. Not really my cup of tea. But when I first downloaded the GRID demo on my xbox 360 , I immediatly got this for pc.

Having played only a few hours , this should not be considered a full review , but I have to say im quite impressed.

Playing on a low end machine ( hp dv 6000 with 1.67ghz core 2 duo and an 8400m GS) I didnt have a chance to turn graphics up THAT high , but after playing around and turning on all the eye candy , this game seriously rocks your screen. To the motion blur effects or the detailed roads , this game looks like Crysis : Racing. Best looking racing game hands-down. But graphics dont make a game right?Detailed Graphics

Slightly Disappointing

Ive played all the Half-Lifes. The original , Opposing Force , and Blue Shift. Those were AMAZING games for 1999 , and the expansions were nice additions to an already great story. When Half Life 2 came out , I was amazed at the graphics and the new physics engine , and the fights were even more epic than that of the original.

Cops. Half Life 2 Edition

Now comes Episode One. Based on the events after Half Life 2 , you are immediately thrust into a destroyed City 17 , in the midst of urban chaos. The Combine forces , genetically-modified soldiers , as well as the Civil Protection , are out to get you , while fellow Resistance members are aiding you in the escape from a quickly deteriorating city. The scale of this game is grand , and I love the street fights between the Resistance and the Combine foot soldiers , nothing short of epic. However , the game does lack in AI. The enemies are quite smart , roaring out commands to their squad , and flanking you to catch you off guard. But your teammates suck hard dean. They stand stupidly in your way sometimes , while bullets are hitting them smack in the face. This might be the only beef I have with the game , since it seems weird that one side of the game is smart while the other side is dumber than Simple Jack.

A Must-Buy

Never since Call of Duty 2 did I ever feel like a real soldier. Call of Duty 2 made WW2 seem as harsh as it really was , with certain scripted events like a fellow british rifleman attempting to knock down a door , only for him and the door to be chewed up by a German with an MG42. Now Infinity Ward is back , the creators of the COD 1 , 2 , and now 4. Dont even compare 3 to this game as it was made by a company with much less dev skill than Infinity Ward.

The game's single-player campaign is by far the BEST campaign ever made. After a quick tutorial , you are immediataly transported to hotspots around the world , like Russia and the Middle East. The first level starts you off as an S.A.S operator , whos team is inserted in the middle of the night by a Black Hawk helicopter onto a boat in the middle of the ocean. After breaking through the cabin , you literally get to kill a few people in their sleep , since its the middle of the night and even terrorists need to sleep. This adds to the startling realism that makes this game seem more like an interactive movie. Without ruining much of the story , lets just say theres a nice "package" down in the ships cargo hold that your team finds."Lets do this Marines"

Overall a great game , but didn't live up to the hype.

Ive played Halo ever since the good ol' combat evolved. Its one of my favourite series , but I was slightly dissapointed by all the hype.

The games campaign starts out great. A few epic setpieces give me my fix convoys of warthogs fighting to the death against the invading Covenant. However , after the first few levels , the game becomes less and less team oriented and just becomes the old-school commando levels , which is a shame since the AI doesnt suck as much as it used to. I love it when you have a squad of marines and a couple of UNSC vehicles at your disposal. These scenarios with the squads of marines makes the game seem more like a Call of Duty level with vehicles , and I love my Call of Duty.Spartan Lasers + Marine + Me = BOOOM

However , playing on legendary with my friends , trying to beat certain levels and unlock new armors , is a blast.
